David Gonzalez, SE
Managing Principal
David is a licensed Civil and Structural Engineer with over 25 years of experience in designing new buildings, rehabilitating existing structures, and conducting forensic investigations of structural failures. He has worked on a wide range of projects across various sectors, including Federal, Healthcare, Life Sciences, Mission Critical, Commercial, and Institutional markets.
David’s expertise extends to both domestic and international assignments, having worked in the United States, Mexico, South America, Asia, and Europe. His technical skills include linear and nonlinear analysis of building structures, analysis and pre-design of base isolation systems, and the design of civil structures using materials such as wood, masonry, cold-formed steel, structural steel, and reinforced and post-tensioned concrete.
He has also participated in post-earthquake reconnaissance efforts, including the 2007 Kona, Hawaii earthquake, the 2010 Chile earthquake, the 2011 Christchurch, New Zealand earthquake, and the 2017 Mexico earthquake.
David is a past president of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) Washington Chapter and currently serves on the Structural Engineers Association of San Diego (SEAOSD) Board of Directors. Additionally, he is an active member of the ASCE 7-28 Seismic Subcommittee and serves on the TC-2, TC-4, and TC-8 task committees.

Dan Junker, SE
Managing Principal
Dan is a licensed Civil and Structural Engineer with over 16 years of design, management, and administrative experience on a wide range of project types. Dan has developed a special expertise in the design-build process, specifically in the military, educational, and healthcare sectors and enjoys the collaborative nature of this delivery method.
Dan’s experience and current area of practice also includes the design, analysis, and physical testing of mechanical, electrical, and other non-structural components for environmental loading associated with essential and mission critical facilities. For over a decade, Dan has managed testing programs for the special seismic certification of non-structural components for OSHPD OSP, IBC, AC156, IEEE 693, GR-63, and UFC applications through full-scale shake table testing at test facilities located across the United States and detailed in-house structural analysis.
His experience in the design of traditional structures, modular and pre-manufactured structures, and non-structural components includes providing successful engineering designs accepted by the most stringent building authorities in the United States, including those for national strategic military assets that require special design and analysis procedures.

Von Loyola
CADD/BIM Manager
Von has 18 years of progressive experience in the development of structural design-build and design-bid-build projects for military and other clients. Von is a skilled, knowledgeable, result-oriented professional who has become an essential and integral part of this team and the quality of our deliverables. He is an avid learner and strives to be on top of all changes in the field, making him adept in the use of leading design software such as AutoCAD and Building Information Modeling (BIM) applications such as Revit.
His experience extends from detailed 2D designs to multi-discipline integration of large-scale Revit models for new and existing military and healthcare facilities such as hangars, BEQs, maintenance & utility structures, special operations buildings, and other structures with unique geometries and features.

Robert McMillan, EIT
Structural Designer
Robert has been with the JGEG team for 3 years and brings a strong educational background in Structural Engineering from the University of California San Diego. While at JGEG, he has worked on a variety of steel and wood structures in the residential, commercial, and government sectors. His experience in the deferred submittal process has helped contractors obtain economical and easily constructable solutions for design items such as stairs, cladding, premanufactured modular MEP systems, and more. He strives to expand his knowledge to continue to provide a quality and timely work product.

Ella Fisher-Gomez, EIT
Structural Designer
Ella obtained her Civil Engineering degree from San Diego State University, with a particular emphasis in structural design. At JGEG, her work has focused on unique projects such as equipment design, support, and seismic certification as well as other systems subjected to seismic and wind loads. She has experience with wood, steel, and concrete structures, and utilizes structural analysis software such as SAP2000 to support her design process. Backed by a strong academic foundation and a detail-oriented approach, Ella is committed to producing high-quality, practical designs and continues to expand her technical expertise through collaboration with the team.

Felipe Carrasco
Project Engineer
Felipe is a Chilean licensed Civil and Structural Engineer with over 15 years of experience in structural design for industrial, marine, mining, and residential projects.
Felipe’s expertise focuses on the seismic design and analysis of reinforced concrete and steel structures. It includes nonlinear analysis of building structures, inelastic time-history analysis, detailed seismic design of reinforced concrete structures and dynamic analysis.

Karina has over 10 years of experience on administrative management and project coordination with a strong focus in the steel industry. Her expertise ensures the smooth execution of operations and supports project teams in achieving their goals and the successful delivery of complex projects. Karina is known for her efficiency, attention to detail, and commitment to operational excellence.

Carlos Navea, EIT
Structural Designer Intern
Carlos is a graduate researcher currently pursuing a master’s degree in civil engineering at San Diego State University with an emphasis on Structural Engineering. His previous experience lies around seismic design and bridge engineering. He is responsible for Caltrans-sponsored seismic research at the SDSU Structural Engineering Laboratory, with work centered on the nonlinear behavior of reinforced concrete bridge columns. His research includes developing Python-based moment-curvature analysis tools to support structural assessment. Carlos serves as Co-Student Liaison Chair for SEAOSD and is a member of the Student Leadership Council for EERI, where he supports student engagement and pathways into the structural engineering profession.
