Structural Designer (Entry-Level)

We are a small, dynamic engineering firm located in La Mesa Village seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an entry-level Structural Designer. The ideal candidate will bring a strong academic foundation and a passion for lifelong learning to contribute to our team-oriented environment.
Job Description
As a Structural Designer at JGEG, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions. Working alongside experienced engineers, you’ll gain hands-on experience and grow into a well-rounded structural engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with principals and senior engineers on tasks such as:
- Preparing structural engineering calculations, reports, and deliverables.
- Coordinating with drafters to develop efficient construction documents.
- Represent JGEG in multidisciplinary design team meetings.
- Support construction administration activities, including:
- Conducting site visits.
- Reviewing submittals and responding to contractor RFIs.
- Assisting with project closeout.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, with a strong academic focus on seismic and structural engineering.
- 0–3 years of relevant experience.
- FE exam passed or EIT certification preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized with excellent time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Attention to detail and the potential to develop strong engineering judgment.
- Familiarity with structural engineering and design software, including ETABS, SAFE, RAM, AutoCAD, and Revit.
- Basic knowledge of building codes and material design guidelines (e.g., IBC, CBC, ASCE 7, ASCE 41, ACI 318, AISC 360, TMS 402) is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary Range: $75,000–$90,000 annually (a good-faith estimate pursuant to pay transparency laws).
- Additional Benefits:

Part-Time Administrative Assistant & Marketing Coordinator

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is highly organized, and has a knack for creativity and communication.
Job Description
As the Administrative Assistant/Marketing Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our firm and driving our marketing efforts. Your responsibilities will include managing administrative tasks, assisting with marketing campaigns, and fostering strong communication with clients and team members.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Tasks:
- Answering phones, emails, and managing correspondence.
- Scheduling meetings and maintaining calendars.
- Organizing and maintaining office files and records.
- Assisting with billing, invoicing, and other basic bookkeeping tasks.
- Ordering office supplies and ensuring smooth office operations.
Marketing Coordination:
- Assisting in the creation of marketing materials such resumes, Statement of Qualifications (SOQs), SF-330 Forms
- Updating and maintaining the company website (basic knowledge of website platforms is a plus).
- Attend a select number of business development events representing the company.
- Helping plan and execute marketing events or outreach initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in administrative and/or marketing roles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Quickbooks Online.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) is desirable.
- Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant coursework in business, marketing, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Schedule & Benefits
- Part-time position: Approximately 20-30 hours per week (full-time position can be considered for the right candidate)
- In-office work required.
- Competitive hourly rate based on experience. The expected hourly pay range is estimated at $24.00 to $28.00 per hour.
